Only unskilled poker players would allow themselves to be carried away when on tilt by not recognizing their situation and playing impulsively and rashly and ending up losing heavily. On the contrary, all experienced poker players make it a rule to recognize if he is going through a tilt situation and tries to neutralize it by not allowing it to affect his gameplay and tactics.

It is interesting to note how the term ‘tilt’ founds its place in poker game situation and it has been observed that it refers to the tilting of a pinball device. Someone who sees the ball going towards the gap between the flippers can get frustrated and in extremely agitated state of mind manually tilt the device so that the ball can move towards the flippers. Now if a player acts like this, some games will flash the word ‘tilt’ and the flippers would be taken out of play by freezing them and the pinball would get lost. This disadvantageous and damaging gameplay that results due to over-aggression caused by frustration of the game situation is the reason why the term ‘tilt’ is used in similar condition in a poker game.

In some private games, however, only 2, 3 and 4 cards are stripped when seven or eight players are participating and more cards are required in the deck for dealing. If only two or three players are participating, the 7 and 8 cards may also be removed giving only a 24-card deck for playing. In such cases, a flush hand becomes superior to a full house hand or a rarely formed four of a kind hand. A note of caution in stripped deck 5-card stud poker game is that with so many cards removed, cheating by collusion is a possibility that needs to be supervised and prevented.

The poker game of Manila played with the Australian variation is one such game that makes use of stripped deck. This particular game is not played with the standard deck of 52 cards and the rule of gameplay requires only a card deck consisting of 32 cards. Playing poker games with stripped deck instead of a standard deck requires certain adjustment to the poker playing rules, called by the absence of certain cards. This has led to a modification of hand values in both the Australian game of Manila and the Mexican stud poker game. So now a player holding a flush hand has a better rank than a player holding a full house since lesser number of cards in each suits being available in the game, a flush hand becomes more difficult to form and hence regarded superior.
